AI outbound texting for HVAC and plumbing: follow up unsold estimates and fill the board with tune-ups
Genz-Ryan (Burnsville, MN)
What they did with AI
Genz-Ryan, an HVAC, plumbing and electrical company in Burnsville, Minnesota, used to run outbound by having reps leave voicemails from spreadsheet lists, with several messaging vendors and every reply landing on a CSR. Autumn Brekke, who leads customer service, dispatch, inside sales and marketing, moved outbound to Avoca Outbound, which builds audiences from ServiceTitan data (with previews of dates and filters before anything sends) and stops a workflow automatically when a job is booked elsewhere or an unsold estimate sells. After a 70-customer test, a furnace tune-up offer went to roughly 400 to 450 customers in one day and the AI booked 70 jobs within a couple of hours; Avoca reports 115 AI-booked jobs that month. Genz-Ryan now runs 40 campaigns, including unsold-estimate follow-up (36% response and 24% booking rate over two weeks), cross-trade offers such as water heater flushes for HVAC customers, seasonal maintenance, and day-of ETA texts that the company says recovered close to a full dispatcher's day. It plans to use weather and schedule-capacity triggers to start and pause campaigns. Figures are vendor-published and not independently audited.

Automate a plumbing shop's back office with AI agents, but keep humans on big quotes
Jon O'Neill (@HouseHackerJon)
A plumbing company owner who also builds software for the trades listed the AI workflows running in his shop: email triage, job booking by text and email (he still doesn't trust voice agents), truck and warehouse restocking, fleet maintenance reminders, reviewing sold-job notes for missed opportunities, drafting quotes from tech notes and photos, job routing, review requests and missed-call texting. In replies he says job booking saves the most time, and that quotes over $5K, price negotiation and truck restock orders over $1K still go to a human.
Move AI from overflow to front-line call answering, step by step
High Ground Service Pros
High Ground (about 150 employees across NJ, NH and ME) started with AI only on overflow and after-hours calls in place of voicemail. It then moved AI to the front line one day a week, then two, then all five, with warm transfers to CSRs for escalations. The company reports AI now handles 75% of inbound calls, the abandon rate fell from 10% to 2%, AI books 81% of bookable calls, $250K-$300K a year in CSR costs were avoided without layoffs, and outbound SMS campaigns bring in $100K-$250K a month.
AI for a solar installer: an AI lead agent plus Claude on live CRM and ad data took installs from 4 to 48 a month
Green Subsidy
Green Subsidy, a solar and battery installer in Australia, had about four installs a month, an ad account that had sat idle for two years, and online inquiries that waited on a human. According to partner SkySync's customer story, inbound leads from Meta, Google and the website now go to an AI agent on WhatsApp and Messenger that qualifies the lead, checks rebate eligibility, builds the quote and books the assessment and install into the crew calendar, with everything written to Salesforce. SkySync also connected Salesforce, Meta Ads and Google Ads to Claude so the CEO can ask which campaigns produced paying customers instead of exporting three systems into a spreadsheet. SkySync reports installs went from 4 to 48 a month, lead response is under two minutes, and A$8,984 in ad spend produced 518 leads and 103 customers (about A$87 each) worth A$2.15M in system value. Its 239x gross return figure includes the Australian government rebate; on customer cash alone it says 98x. In production since February 2026 and operated by SkySync; vendor-published figures, not independently audited.
